Practical habits that help your phone battery last longer

Heat and very deep discharges are the main enemies of lithium-ion batteries. A few simple habits make a real difference.

Avoid heat

Lithium-ion batteries age faster when hot. Avoid leaving your phone in direct sun or in a parked car, and remove thick cases while fast-charging if the phone gets warm.

Avoid running to zero

Frequent full discharges stress the battery. Charging when the level falls to around 20% is a good habit.

Use a reliable charger

Use the charger supplied with your phone or one that matches its specifications. Very cheap, uncertified chargers can deliver unstable power.

When to replace the battery

If the phone shuts down unexpectedly at a reasonable charge level, drains much faster than before, or the battery is swollen, have it checked. A swollen battery should be replaced promptly and not charged.
